My podcasts

I’ve been working on podcasts for the past few years, especially since my mate Ross Sutherland moved to Peterborough.

Ross writes & produces ‘Imaginary Advice’ - probably one of the best fictional podcasts out there! Ross won gold at the National Podcast Awards for the series a while back and over our nights spent hanging out he inspired me to give podcasting a go.

Together, we worked on ‘Mark Can’t Rap’ - a series that explores the complexity & craft behind rap lyrics. It’s a mixture of personal journal, investigative journalism & storytelling & it’s been quite a beast to put together! It’s definitely one of the most challenging & rewarding projects I’ve worked on.

Season 1 is a deep-dive into the craft as I find out just how good (or bad) I am at rapping.

Season 2 charts the UK covid lockdowns and what happened during that time, whilst uncovering lessons from rap that can help us get through our most difficult times.

Both seasons feature some incredible UK talent and I’m very proud to get to work with so many inspiring artists. We were named one of The NME’s ‘Podcast's of the People’ & we’ve had over 400,000 downloads so far - why not give us a listen?

Both seasons were supported with public funding from Arts Council England & it’s been amazing to hear from writers all around the world since we started.

Just click one of the links below and you’ll be taken to the series.

I’d recommend starting with season 1 Episode 1 for the full story.

Write Club Open Mic

During the lockdowns in the UK I set up a free online Write Club for anyone needing support - I’ve been running pub events under the name ‘Write Club’ with my friends Keely & Charley:

& it seemed like the most helpful thing to do was turn Write club into an online support group.

Three years later we’re still going!

’The Write Club Massive’ are a very important part of my life (we have our own t shirts & everything!) & I’ve been running monday morning activities for so long I’ve pretty much lost count!

I wanted to make a podcast series that celebrates our members and all the work we produced/what we’ve learnt about community & writing these past few years. I wanted to make something that helps others to create & share their work/feel part of a community too - and so ‘Write Club Open Mic’ was born!

‘Write Club Open Mic’ is a monthly podcast that celebrates new writing - we believe that everyone is capable of writing something that’s worth listening to. Our podcast is an accessible & welcoming open mic space, featuring online members’ work whilst also encouraging listeners to join in.

All episodes of Write Club Open Mic are recorded at Backlands Studio with Chris Barn & it’s been amazing getting to work with him on this.

It’s also been so good getting to reconnect with local artists again after the lockdowns!

If you’re interested in listening to new writing - or are looking to connect with fellow writers as we all explore this craft together, you are very welcome to join us!

You can always give our podcast a listen via the usual channels:
